Energizer Sizing Recommendation
We recommend sizing your energizer using the 1 Joule Per Mile Rule.
When calculating fence size, use the total miles of energized wire, not simply the perimeter distance. Based on our sizing guideline, a 0.50-joule output energizer is best suited for approximately 1/2 mile of energized wire under good fence conditions.
Grounding Recommendation
We recommend 3 feet of grounding per output joule.
With a 0.50-joule output, that equals approximately 1.5 feet of grounding as a starting point. Soil conditions can significantly affect grounding performance, and additional grounding may be beneficial in dry, sandy, or rocky conditions.
