The Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Reducing Coupling provides a secure and dependable way to connect two different sizes of IPS-ID polyethylene water pipe. Designed for Iron Pipe Size Inside Diameter (IPS-ID) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239, this compression fitting allows water lines to transition between larger and smaller pipe sizes without requiring additional reducing adapters.

Ideal for livestock watering systems, rotational and regenerative grazing operations, agricultural irrigation, and farm water distribution, this reducing coupling makes it easy to connect different sizes of HDPE water pipe when installing, expanding, or modifying a water distribution system.

Featuring compression connections on both ends, the Philmac IPS-ID reducing coupling provides a secure mechanical connection between compatible polyethylene pipes without requiring specialized heat fusion or welding equipment.

Whether you're reducing a main water supply line to a smaller distribution line, connecting different pipe sizes, or modifying an existing livestock watering system, this compression reducing coupling provides a practical solution.

Key Features

  • IPS-ID (SIDR) Compatibility: Designed for compatible polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.
  • Reducing Connection: Connects two different nominal sizes of IPS-ID polyethylene pipe.
  • Compression x Compression Connections: Provides secure mechanical connections on both ends.

What Is an IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Reducing Coupling Used For?

A reducing coupling allows two different sizes of polyethylene water pipe to be connected directly, creating a transition between larger and smaller water lines.

For example, a livestock watering system may use a larger HDPE main supply line to transport water across a farm, while smaller distribution lines deliver water to individual paddocks or watering locations.

A Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Reducing Coupling provides a convenient way to transition between these pipe sizes without requiring multiple fittings.

These couplings are especially useful when expanding rotational grazing water systems, connecting existing water lines of different sizes, or modifying agricultural water distribution networks.

Important: Reducing pipe diameter can affect available water flow and pressure loss. Proper pipe sizing is important when designing livestock watering systems, particularly over long distances or when supplying multiple watering locations.

Important Compatibility Information

This reducing coupling is designed for IPS-ID (SIDR) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.

ASTM D2239 polyethylene pipe is sized according to its nominal inside diameter and Standard Inside Diameter Ratio (SIDR).

Unlike IPS-OD (ASTM D3035) and CTS-OD (ASTM D2737) polyethylene pipe, IPS-ID pipe may have different outside diameters depending on its SIDR classification.

Always verify your pipe's sizing standard, SIDR classification, and outside diameter before purchasing compression fittings.

IPS-ID, IPS-OD, and CTS-OD compression fittings are not automatically interchangeable.

Both ends of this reducing coupling are intended for compatible IPS-ID polyethylene pipe, with each end accommodating its specified nominal pipe size.

For proper installation, ensure pipe ends are cut square, properly prepared, and inserted to the manufacturer's recommended depth. Follow Philmac's installation instructions for tightening and pressure testing.
