The Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Female Elbow provides a secure and convenient way to connect polyethylene water pipe to male-threaded plumbing components while changing the direction of the water line by 90 degrees. Designed for Iron Pipe Size Inside Diameter (IPS-ID) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239, this fitting is ideal for livestock watering systems, agricultural water distribution, and farm plumbing applications.

Featuring a compression connection on one end and a female-threaded connection on the other, this elbow allows compatible HDPE water pipe to connect directly to male-threaded valves, fittings, and water distribution equipment.

The 90-degree design is especially useful when water lines need to turn toward a livestock water tank, connect to a threaded plumbing component, or change direction in a confined installation area.

Ideal for rotational and regenerative grazing operations, livestock watering systems, agricultural irrigation, and farm water distribution, Philmac IPS-ID female elbows provide a practical solution for connecting polyethylene water lines to threaded components without requiring specialized heat fusion or welding equipment.

Whether you're installing a new livestock watering system, connecting an HDPE water line to a threaded valve, or modifying an existing water distribution network, this compression female elbow provides a convenient directional connection.

Key Features

  • IPS-ID (SIDR) Compatibility: Designed for compatible polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.
  • 90-Degree Elbow Design: Changes the direction of the water line by 90 degrees.
  • Compression x Female Thread Connection: Connects IPS-ID polyethylene pipe to compatible male-threaded plumbing components.
  • Female Pipe Threads: Provides a connection for compatible threaded valves, fittings, and water distribution equipment.
  • Direct Pipe-to-Thread Transition: Combines a directional elbow and threaded adapter into one fitting.
  • No Heat Fusion Required: Compression connection installs without specialized welding or fusion equipment.
  • Mechanical Compression Connection: Uses compression components to grip and seal compatible polyethylene pipe.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for livestock watering, irrigation, and compatible cold-water distribution systems.
  • Multiple Sizes Available: Accommodates several IPS-ID polyethylene pipe sizes.

What Is an IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Female Elbow Used For?

A 90-degree compression female elbow allows polyethylene water pipe to connect to a male-threaded plumbing component while changing the direction of the water line.

For example, a livestock watering system may have an HDPE water line running underground toward a water tank. When the water line reaches the tank, a Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Female Elbow can provide a right-angle transition to a compatible male-threaded fitting.

This allows the water line to change direction and connect to threaded plumbing equipment using a single fitting.

These elbows are also useful when connecting polyethylene water lines to shutoff valves, distribution manifolds, and other male-threaded components where a 90-degree connection is needed.

Unlike a standard compression elbow, which connects two sections of polyethylene pipe, a female compression elbow connects polyethylene pipe to a threaded plumbing component.

Important: When installing a female-threaded plastic fitting, avoid overtightening the threaded connection. Excessive tightening can damage the fitting. Always follow Philmac's recommended installation procedures.

Important Compatibility Information

This compression female elbow is designed for IPS-ID (SIDR) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.

ASTM D2239 polyethylene pipe is sized according to its nominal inside diameter and Standard Inside Diameter Ratio (SIDR).

Unlike IPS-OD (ASTM D3035) and CTS-OD (ASTM D2737) polyethylene pipe, IPS-ID pipe may have different outside diameters depending on its SIDR classification.

Always verify your pipe's sizing standard, SIDR classification, and outside diameter before purchasing compression fittings.

IPS-ID, IPS-OD, and CTS-OD compression fittings are not automatically interchangeable.

The compression end connects to compatible IPS-ID polyethylene pipe, while the female-threaded end connects to a compatible male-threaded plumbing fitting.

Verify the thread type and size before installation. Use an appropriate thread sealant approved for the fitting material and application, following the manufacturer's installation recommendations.
