The Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Female Adapter provides a secure and dependable way to connect IPS-ID polyethylene water pipe to male-threaded plumbing fittings. Designed for Iron Pipe Size Inside Diameter (IPS-ID) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239, this compression fitting allows HDPE water lines to connect to compatible threaded valves, fittings, and water distribution equipment.
Featuring a compression connection on one end and female pipe threads on the other, this adapter provides a convenient transition from polyethylene pipe to threaded plumbing components without requiring specialized heat fusion or welding equipment.
Ideal for livestock watering systems, rotational and regenerative grazing operations, agricultural irrigation, and farm water distribution, Philmac IPS-ID female adapters offer a practical solution for connecting polyethylene water lines to livestock water tanks, shutoff valves, manifolds, and other compatible plumbing components.
Whether you're installing a new livestock watering system, connecting a water line to a threaded valve, or modifying an existing HDPE water distribution system, this compression female adapter provides a convenient and dependable connection.

What Is an IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Female Adapter Used For?
A compression female adapter allows polyethylene water pipe to connect directly to plumbing components with male pipe threads.
For example, a livestock watering system may use an HDPE water line to transport water from a main supply line to a livestock water tank. A Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) Compression Female Adapter provides the transition from the polyethylene pipe to a compatible male-threaded valve or fitting.
These adapters are also useful when connecting polyethylene water lines to shutoff valves, distribution manifolds, and other threaded plumbing components.
Unlike a standard compression coupling, which connects two sections of polyethylene pipe, a female adapter connects polyethylene pipe to a threaded component.
Important: When connecting a female-threaded plastic fitting to a male-threaded component, avoid overtightening. Excessive tightening can damage the fitting. Always follow Philmac's recommended installation procedures.
Important Compatibility Information
This female adapter is designed for IPS-ID (SIDR) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.
ASTM D2239 polyethylene pipe is sized according to its nominal inside diameter and Standard Inside Diameter Ratio (SIDR).
Unlike IPS-OD (ASTM D3035) and CTS-OD (ASTM D2737) polyethylene pipe, IPS-ID pipe may have different outside diameters depending on its SIDR classification.
Always verify your pipe's sizing standard, SIDR classification, and outside diameter before purchasing compression fittings.
IPS-ID, IPS-OD, and CTS-OD compression fittings are not automatically interchangeable.
The compression end connects to compatible IPS-ID polyethylene pipe, while the female-threaded end connects to a compatible male-threaded plumbing fitting.
Verify the thread type and size before installation. Use an appropriate thread sealant approved for the fitting material and application, following the manufacturer's installation recommendations.
