The Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Elbow provides a secure and convenient way to change the direction of polyethylene water lines. Designed for Iron Pipe Size Inside Diameter (IPS-ID) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239, this compression fitting allows two sections of compatible HDPE pipe to be connected at a 90-degree angle.

Featuring compression connections on both ends, this elbow provides a mechanical connection without requiring specialized heat fusion or welding equipment.

Ideal for livestock watering systems, rotational and regenerative grazing operations, agricultural irrigation, and farm water distribution, Philmac IPS-ID compression elbows make it easier to route water lines around obstacles, buildings, livestock watering locations, and other areas where a change in pipe direction is necessary.

Whether you're installing a new livestock watering system, extending HDPE water lines to additional paddocks, or modifying an existing water distribution network, this 90-degree compression elbow provides a practical solution for creating a directional connection.

Key Features

  • IPS-ID (SIDR) Compatibility: Designed for compatible polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.
  • 90-Degree Elbow Design: Changes the direction of a water line by 90 degrees.
  • Compression x Compression Connections: Connects two sections of compatible IPS-ID polyethylene pipe.
  • Equal-Size Connections: Both ends accommodate the same nominal pipe size.
  • No Heat Fusion Required: Installs without specialized welding or fusion equipment.
  • Mechanical Compression Connection: Uses compression components to grip and seal compatible polyethylene pipe.
  • Durable Construction: Designed for agricultural and water distribution applications.
  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for livestock watering, irrigation, and compatible cold-water distribution systems.
  • Multiple Sizes Available: Accommodates several IPS-ID polyethylene water line sizes.

What Is an IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Elbow Used For?

A 90-degree compression elbow connects two sections of polyethylene water pipe while changing the direction of the water line.

For example, a livestock watering system may require an HDPE water line to turn around a building, follow the edge of a paddock, or connect to a water line approaching a livestock watering location from a different direction.

A Philmac IPS-ID (SIDR) 90° Compression Elbow allows farmers and ranchers to make these directional changes using a single compression fitting.

These elbows are especially useful when installing water lines in areas where bending the pipe is impractical or would exceed the pipe manufacturer's recommended minimum bend radius.

Unlike a straight compression coupling, which connects two sections of pipe in a straight line, a 90-degree elbow creates a right-angle connection.

Important: Every fitting that changes the direction of water flow can contribute to friction loss within a water distribution system. Proper pipe sizing and system design are important when supplying livestock water over long distances.

Important Compatibility Information

This compression elbow is designed for IPS-ID (SIDR) polyethylene pipe manufactured to ASTM D2239.

ASTM D2239 polyethylene pipe is sized according to its nominal inside diameter and Standard Inside Diameter Ratio (SIDR).

Unlike IPS-OD (ASTM D3035) and CTS-OD (ASTM D2737) polyethylene pipe, IPS-ID pipe may have different outside diameters depending on its SIDR classification.

Always verify your pipe's sizing standard, SIDR classification, and outside diameter before purchasing compression fittings.

IPS-ID, IPS-OD, and CTS-OD compression fittings are not automatically interchangeable.

Both ends of this elbow are intended for compatible IPS-ID polyethylene pipe of the same nominal size.

For proper installation, ensure pipe ends are cut square, properly prepared, and inserted to the manufacturer's recommended depth. Follow Philmac's installation instructions for tightening and pressure testing.
